A couple of weeks ago I went fishing with one of my sons in the ocean. We were trolling along when all of a sudden one of the poles began to whine and scream. We said, “fish on!” We fought the fish for some time but never saw it jump out of the water, so we did not know what it was. We did know it was a big fish. When we worked the fish for about a half hour we thought it was getting pretty close to the boat. Looking in to the water we saw a fish come up. It was a huge shark. Our hearts sank. We were not fishing for shark! After some discussion about whether to cut the line we decided to keep reeling the fish in. Finally the fish came up and we saw it was not a shark, it was a big wahoo! After landing the fish we measured it – 46 inches!

We were just about ready to give up because we mistakenly believed something that was not true. If we had cut the line we would have lost a great fish. Life is like that sometimes. We think something we are doing will not pan out. We believe something that is not true. If only we will keep on going, looking to God to take care of the results, we will see the blessing. What are you struggling with in your life? Do you feel like giving up? Don’t do it. A journey is accomplished one step at a time. A mountain can be moved one shovel at a time. Keep on keeping on!

Galatians 6:9 “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”
